It&#8217;s the first time I&#8217;ve heard coyotes in North Carolina. I&#8217;ve heard them before while camping in the mountains of California, near Yosemite. It&#8217;s a primitive sound &#8212; a spooky choir of high pitch yelps that sound as though they have to do with the final frenzy of hunting.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot of lore and misinformation about coyotes in North Carolina, but I believe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncwildlife.org\/Wildlife_Species_Con\/documents\/gazette_winter06.pdf\">this article<\/a> from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission tells the story.
