But most men are not like that. And there is nothing wrong with boys.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t waste any words of my own. These young men sing the point quite beautifully.<\/p>\n<p>In French:<\/p>\n<p><em>Abandon entour\u00e9 d&#8217;abandon, tendresse touchant aux tendresses&#8230;<br \/>\nC&#8217;est ton int\u00e9rieur qui sans cesse se caresse, dirait-on;<br \/>\nse caresse en soi-m\u00eame, par son propre reflet \u00e9clair\u00e9.<br \/>\nAinsi tu inventes le th\u00e8me du Narcisse exauc\u00e9.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I cannot find either a literal or poetic translation of the French that I like very much. So I will have a go at a poetic translation of my own:<\/p>\n<p><em>Wildness surrounded by wildness, tenderness touching tendernesses &#8230;<br \/>\nIt is your own self that ceaselessly caresses you, one might say;<br \/>\nCaressed inside yourself, lit by your own reflection.<br \/>\nThus you find the answer to the prayers of Narcissus.<br \/>\nOne might say, one might say, one might say &#8230;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The poem is by the Czech poet Rainer Maria Rilke, 1875-1926. The poem ostensibly is about a rose.
