\r\nBrother, that breathe the August air\r\n  Ten thousand years from now,\r\nAnd smell --- if still your orchards bear\r\n  Tart apples on the bough ---\r\nThe early windfall under the tree,\r\n  And see the red fruit shine,\r\nI cannot think your thoughts will be\r\n  Much different from mine.\r\n\r\nShould at that moment the full moon\r\n  Step forth upon the hill,\r\nAnd memories hard to bear,\r\n  By moonlight harder still,\r\n\r\nForm in the shadows of the trees, ---\r\n  Things that you could not spare\r\nAnd live, or so you thought, yet these\r\n  Are gone, and you still there,\r\n\r\nA man no longer what he was,\r\n  Nor yet the thing he'd planned,\r\nThe chilly apple from the grass\r\n  Warmed by your living hand ---\r\n\r\nI think you will have need of tears;\r\n  I think they will not flow;\r\nSupposing in ten thousand years\r\n  Men ache, as they do now.<\/em><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
