Nailing floor

One room finished — that’s a start.

I decided that, to save some money, nailing down my flooring was something I could do myself. The mitre saw seems relatively safe for an amateur, and the pneumatic nail gun really does the job. So my brother got me started on Monday. If I stay at it (not that I have any choice), I may be done in about a week.

This is white pine. I’ll give it a natural finish. I decided not to stain it. The wood finishing work is two or three weeks off.

Big piles of flooring = a long way to go.

Good job, David! Pine may be humble but the smell?…heaven!

I once lived with a fellow who was a cabinet maker and one of the best times of the day was when he came home and would give me a big hug…..the smell of pine and cherry and maple was always on his clothes and hair. It’s such a good, clean smell.

You’ve inspired me….My old house has the painted borders that they would lay linoleum squares in the center (carpet mimic for the poor man, I suppose) I’m sanding the paint away and just having the pine floors

Good to see the daffs in the driveway. What jolly bright messengers!!! I’m sure it will be a while before I see mine here on Canada’s east coast but my tulips are up about 3 inches!!

Good to see to the buried hydro. Hydro poles must be the ugliest things ever invent!

    Keep up the good work!

I am so enjoying your blog, the home you choose is one that we are thinking about for our home. We have yet to formally purchase the property but we’re pretty certain this is the one we are getting. you can see it on our blog http://findingmydreamfarm.blogspot.com/

How do you like the pine floors, are you finding that they are holding up well?

thanks so much and enjoy your beautiful home.

The floors are holding up very well, though I still need to wax them. I’m not sure that pine floors would work well for large families with children, but they’re perfect in a situation like mine. Best of luck with your new home…
