Fence-building is hard work

fence-posts-2010-05-20-1.JPG

For more than a week, Ken and I have been hard at work on the deer fence. The posts are all in place, and the corner reinforcements are done. We’re ready to start putting up wire. I’ll blog the whole fence-building process when the job is done.

WOW!!! You guys are a great team!!! Now that’s a garden!! Now you dont have to worry about the chicken’s wellfare so much as before… How many acres do you have there again?? I can see the deer now with their noses pressed up against the fence and drooling with the raccoons under them dreaming of a chicken dinner….. LOLS Great progress on the Abby.. It’s been such a pleasure to follow your progress… Thanks for sharing!!!

I have five acres. Four acres are hardwood woods, and that I haven’t touched. But one acre was a farmer’s field up until about 40 years ago, and it had been planted over in pines. It was those pines I took out to clear room for the house and garden area. The chickens are really going to love some freedom…
