Mrs. Squirrel

Mrs. Squirrel looks down at me from her lofty perch high up the back of the house. The four little ones have not yet left the nest in my attic, as far as I know. As soon as the little ones are up and away, I’ll nail in enough metal fabric to make sure that her next children are raised in the woods.

It’s winter, David – will you kick the little ones out in the forest during wintertide ??
The’re newborn – would you do that to a human newborn ??

Yes! When they’re old enough to look out for themselves. They’ll build a new nest in the woods where they belong. 🙂

I think its cute and funny. Though the destruction can be costly over time if you allow her to continue. It happened to me, cost about $600 plus new electric wiring about $150. Smart to place new metal screen. My handyman suggested hardware wire; stronger.

Henry: Exactly. She has already damaged the screen (not strong enough) and gnawed the woodwork. All I need is five of them up there! I’m also concerned about fleas.

I live in town but am surrounded by woods with lots of squirrels, a perfect place for foxes. I had a fox family move in under one of my decks. We were amused at first, but soon found squirrel bits scattered around the entrance. I evicted them by placing an old boombox tuned to NPR under the deck. Worked like a charm.
